In today’s WWE news and rumors update, there is talk about The Fiend and his next series of opponents, some changes in match-ups and news about Rey Mysterio, plus news on the return of Ronda Rousey… maybe.
Could Mysterio Exercise Out Clause?
Buzz is that Rey Mysterio signed a two-year deal in September 2018, but as part of that deal, he has an out-clause that allows him leave at the eighteen month mark. If he exercised it, that would put him at, or somewhere near WrestleMania 36.
There is no word on whether or not Mysterio actually wants out early but we do know AEW would have an interest in Mysterio should he decide to end his time in WWE. Rey worked the All In pay per view before AEW was an official wrestling brand, and he did so despite WWE’s request to avoid that show.
The Fiend’s Long-Term Plans Set?
Dave Meltzer remarked on Wrestling Observer Radio that WWE is building Wyatt up for a future opponent and could have as many as four of his next opponents already slotted on paper.
Those opponents are Daniel Bryan, The Miz Roman Reigns and Brock Lesnar. Meltzer wonders if Wyatt is being built up for a match vs Lesnar at WrestleMania 36.
Ronda Rousey Coming Back?
When asked what he would do the for the men’s and women’s Royal Rumble match, Ryan Satin of Pro Wrestling Sheet and now WWE Backstage said he likes whatever will lead to a Demon vs The Fiend match. But, on the women’s side, Satin said, “If possible, Ronda as a surprise #30 entrant to setup the WrestleMania match against Becky Lynch.”
Whether Ronda Rousey is actually slotted for a return or not is unclear. All we know is that Triple H has said publicly that she’s not done with WWE.
Along the way, Rousey has been very active on Total Divas, working with WWE in other capacities outside the ring and filming projects unrelated to WWE. There have been murmurs she might put the whole family thing on hold and come back because she misses the WWE so much.
