Rhyno’s WWE Contract Expiring, No New Deal in Place

WWE could be losing a long-time veteran to free agency. An article published by Press & Guide featured quotes from WWE Superstar and longtime veteran of the industry Rhyno. One such quote was an interesting one that included Rhyno statin that his contract is set to expire in mid-July and that a new deal hasn’t yet been signed.

When speaking on the state of his contract, Rhyno said the following:

“I love working with WWE,” he said. “They’re great. But I might have [to] go somewhere else. I don’t know yet.”

Rhyno has been in the wrestling industry for decades and has spent various stints in WWE throughout his career.

Rhyno’s Long and Successful Career

He would wrestle for Catch Wrestling Association before making the jump to ECW and getting his first real taste of exposure before joining WWE as a member of The Alliance in 2001. He’d later find himself working on TNA, Ring of Honor and eventually returning to WWE through their NXT brand. His latest WWE run would prove to be fairly successful as well as he even captured tag team gold alongside Heath Slater.

It’ll be interesting to see if WWE and Rhyno can find common ground on a new contract or if the 43-year-old will find himself returning to the independent circuit once again in a few months. With companies like AEW, ROH, TNA and others still standing tall in North America, Rhyno should still have no shortage of offers for full-time employment. He could also explore working non-exclusive commitments to any company willing to pay his booking fee.

As it stands, Rhyno is listed on the alumni section of the WWE.com website but is being listed as a participant in the Andre The Giant Memorial Battle Royal at WrestleMania 35. Whether or not this becomes his last appearance at the Showcase of the Immortals is yet to be seen.
