It’s been a match everyone seemed to know was coming but for some reason wasn’t officially being announced. When Asuka lost her SmackDown Live Women’s Championship this past Tuesday, it was almost a certainty.
WWE has finally announced that Women’s Battle Royal will take place at this year’s WrestleMania.
The female Superstars of Raw, SmackDown LIVE and NXT will compete in the second annual WrestleMania Women’s Battle Royal on Sunday, April 7, WWE.com can now confirm.
They go on to describe the traditional rules of the Battle Royal and cite last year’s winner as Naomi. They ask if she can make it two in a row or if someone else will emerge
So far, the following Superstars are confirmed for the all-out melee:
Our money is on Asuka winning. She was just left without a title match days before the biggest pay-per-view of the year and it seems only fitting that to repay her for letting Charlotte add another wrinkle to the main event of the show, Asuka gets a big thanks with a Battle Royal win.
We also expect that a couple names/legends might make their return for the match. Typically the Battle Royal has 20 entrants and at this point, WWE has only announced 13. The rest will likely be filled by NXT Superstars.
Finally, the match will probably take place on the pre-show card. Considering this match was added in the final hours, it’s not likely to be given a spot in the main show, especially with Ronda Rousey, Becky Lynch and Flair closing things down for the night.
