WWE Not Open To Doing Business With CM Punk
Apparently, despite the fact that CM Punk might be open to a WWE return and the WWE could certainly use the services of a star like Punk in such trying times, WWE, specifically Vince McMahon is not at all open to the idea of bringing him back.
Dave Meltzer of F4WOnline.com noted that:
“Vince McMahon labeled him the one man I just can’t do business with and nobody at the top level, including Paul Heyman has argued the point or pushed for him.”
Further to that, Meltzer also noted that the only reason WWE didn’t cause a stink with FOX when Punk was added as a part-time panelist for the show was because Vince didn’t want to ruffle feathers after signing a brand new television rights deal with the network. Still, Vince wasn’t happy about it.
According to Meltzer, Punk’s agent tried to open up a conversation with WWE about a return but WWE had no interest, in part because Punk debuted on WWE Backstage and the numbers didn’t really reflect that he was a huge difference-maker. His value, in the eyes of McMahon, decreased when the numbers for his second show dropped.
Needless to say, there have been rumors that WWE may call an audible here for WrestleMania with so many changes. Could CM Punk be among them? It’s doubtful, but now Vince is the one that might feel like he’s struggling to come up with solutions to a myriad of problems.
