Being a champion in professional wrestling doesn’t come without its setbacks. While being the top star in any given promotion is always the goal, the constant target on the back of that top star is something to be wary of.
It didn’t take long, then, for Bobby Lashley to make it known that the new WWE Universal Champion Brock Lesnar is firmly in his sights following his win over Seth Rollins at Extreme Rules.
Lashley would thank everybody on Twitter for the Birthday wishes sent to him through social media, but he’d also call out The Beast via his advocate Paul Heyman.
“Thanks everyone for the birthday wishes
Next step: Get @HeymanHustle to inform the “champ” when he’s done with Seth, I’m waiting. #BobbyVsBrock #Raw”Bobby Lashley via Twitter
This is a match that’s been highly requested for years given the similarities between both performers. Both Lashley and Lesnar have had very successful MMA careers and display an effective combination of size, strength and athleticism.
It’s still possible that WWE withholds this match from the fans for one reason or another, but seeing Lashley lay the groundwork via social media is still exciting.
While a match between these two wrestlers would be more well-received if the Universal Championship wasn’t implicated, the fact of the matter is Lesnar is the Champion right now and it’ll likely be involved if these two enter a feud.
WWE’s product, in general, has been better as of late so it’s actually conceivable that an angle between Lashley and Lesnar could actually be told properly. Time will tell.
