The cause of death has yet to be confirmed but TMZ is reporting that the officials have classified it as “non-criminal.” According to TMZ, officials said that Massaro was transported from her home in Suffolk County, NY to a nearby hospital where she would pass early Thursday morning.
Mick Foley would also speak on the passing of Massaro through his Twitter.
“This is just awful news – Ashley Massaro is gone. She was only 39. She lived in the same town as me…I loved seeing her around. She was always so nice…and now she’s gone. #RIPAshleyMassaro”Mick Foley via Twitter
Massaro would win WWE’s 2005 Raw Diva Search that included a prize of a one-year contract worth $250,000. She would become the manager for Paul London and Brian Kendrick who would experience Championship success with her at their side. She’d also have her own singles success in the ring too, competing against Melina at WrestleMania 23 for the WWE Women’s Championship.
Outside of WWE, Ashley has also appeared on the cover of Playboy Magazine, competed on Survivor: China (both in 2007) and would appear at various wrestling conventions and events over the next decade following her departure from WWE in 2008.
