WWE Announces King Corbin vs Elias Still On For WrestleMania
WWE has announced that Elias vs. King Baron Corbin will still take place at WrestleMania 36 despite the storyline that Elias was seriously injured on last week’s SmackDown when he was thrown off a balcony onto the concrete below.
Last Friday’s SmackDown on FOX saw Corbin use his scepter to knock Elias from an elevated perch inside the WWE Performance Center. Corbin was tired of Elias’ song entitled “Kingdom of Fools” and used that as an excuse to take Elias out, once and for all. WWE then reported Elias had been taken to a local medical facility and was still undergoing tests.
With all the news of WWE Superstars being pulled from WrestleMania matches, there were questions about whether or not this match would actually still take place.
WWE issued another storyline update this afternoon and said Elias will compete and did not suffer any broken bones, but he has been recovering at a rehab facility.
The statement reads:
Elias escapes serious injury and vows to compete against King Corbin at WrestleMania
After undergoing an extensive evaluation, Elias has escaped serious injury and suffered no broken bones, WWE Digital has learned. Despite King Corbin’s heinous assault on last week’s Friday Night SmackDown, Elias has been recovering at a rehab facility and swears that, somehow, some way, he will compete against Corbin at WrestleMania.
The songsmith was blindsided by his royal rival following a musical performance, which led to Corbin knocking Elias off an upper perch at the WWE Performance Center.
