Undertaker Details His Conversation With Vince About “The Streak” Ending
Mark Calaway, (The Undertaker) recently had an interview with ESPN MMA’s Ariel Helwani to promote the Undertaker: The Last Ride special and discussed a few other topics, including how his conversation with Vince McMahon went when it was revealed he wanted Taker to lose to Lesnar six years ago at WrestleMania.
Calaway admitted he always thought it would end and wasn’t holding onto the idea that it would go down in history as having never been stopped but he did say the rest of the locker room thought it was a poor choice on WWE’s part.
“It was always in the back of my mind that it would end, although most of my peers and people I work with thought that was a horrible decision,” he explained.
Making sure this was what Vince really wanted, he said, “And, I just asked Vince, “Are you sure?” I said, “Is this what you want?” He was like, “If it’s not Brock, who can beat you?” Right? I mean, the way the streak was built, by that time, obviously. So, I was like, “Alright, well, it’s your call.”
It’s a decision that still goes down as polarizing by WWE fans and wrestlers alike. It was a shocking moment that will live on forever, but there’s no going back now. The Undertaker’s Streak ended.
