It was expected Drew McIntyre, Bobby Lashley & Baron Corbin might be the opponents this Sunday for “The Shield’s Last Chapter” match that will include Dean Ambrose teaming with Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins for the last time, but WWE confirmed as much in a press release on Friday.
This Sunday, live on WWE Network, The Shield will wrestle as a team one last time inside the TaxSlayer Center in Mobile, IL.
This is essentially a rematch from WWE Fastlane this past February but live house shows, which this is merely a glorified version of, often sees the same competitors wrestle each other over and over. On the same show, new Intercontinental Champion Finn Balor will be defending his title.
The entire event won’t be broadcast on the network but the main event will be.
Ambrose is expected to leave WWE at the end of this month and this will likely be the last time he’ll be seen on any WWE broadcast.
Seth Rollins did an interview with Quad-City Times ahead of this weekend’s live event and said, “I always believed The Shield would live forever. It’s a different level of camaraderie. Life is about sharing experiences; to do that in the moment with those guys is a very different experience, and I’m fortunate enough to have it happen at home.”
