Silver King Passes Away In Ring at 51 Years of Age
It has been confirmed by a number of performers and by WWE.com who have commented that lucha legend Silver King passed away on Saturday at the age of 51.
Silver King was competing for Lucha Libre World in a match against Juventud Guerrera. While wrestling at the Roundhouse Theatre in North London he was unable to get up off the mat. Unaware of King’s condition, Guerrera tried to continue the match, eventually rolling him over for the attempted pin. When it was clear something was wrong, medical attendants rushed to the ring, an ambulance was called and he was taken to the hospital. According to PWInsider, it was believed that he had suffered a heart attack while in the ring.
Silver King whose real name is Cesar Cuauhtemoc Gonzalez Barron, debuted in 1985 and was well known for his time in WCW between 1997 and 2000. For a while, he was a member of the Latino World Order.
King was also in the Nacho Libre film with Jack Black. Black posted a touching tribute to his fellow co-star on Instagram.
Video has surfaced of his final moment in the ring but out of respect, we will not be posting that here.
