Reports Friday revealed that a number of WWE Superstars were pulled from the tapings this week, among them The Miz who is rumored to have not taken part in WrestleMania 36. Further reports suggest he showed up sick, was pulled from the show and he, in part, was the reason Roman Reigns decided to pull himself from the pay-per-view.
There are reports on Saturday that apparently The Miz has some backstage heat because of this.
It’s not clear as to what kind of illness The Miz had or if he simply had a fever of .01 more than the WWE’s cut-off line. But, according to Wrestling Observer Radio’s Dave Meltzer, The Usos were pretty displeased with Miz’s decision to still report to work despite feeling under the weather. He notes, “Roman Reigns made the call himself. It was interesting because he was there and made the call.” He added, “I don’t really know much else, that’s really all I was told. It’s a weird story because if you followed it, basic logic is that he should have stayed home.”
This is all under the assumption The Miz even knew he was sick. For all anyone knows, he might have had a minor cold. Reports of this COVID-19 pandemic is that some people who have it, don’t even know they have it. This, by the way, is not to suggest The Miz has caught the virus. There have been no reports of as much, nor reports that he’s been told to quarantine himself.
Meltzer added that The Miz is taking heat because the impression might be that he was willing to risk things just to stay on WrestleMania. Meltzer notes, “Everyone’s got a risk but his risk was high, his reward was high too but his risk was real high.” He said that The Miz is set financially so he should have decided to exclude himself from the show the minute he didn’t feel well. Meltzer adds, “I don’t know who made the call but it was an obvious call that wasn’t made so I don’t know where in the WWE medical system it fell through but it fell through.”
I’m not sure I’m buying this. The report hints that The Miz knew he was sick, showed up to work anyways and risked the health of a number of people. That just doesn’t make sense.
