WWE fans were surprised to see The Undertaker at Raw this past Monday. While some will assume this is WWE simply throwing stuff at the wall to see what sticks or adding an element of shock-value to Raw to boost ratings, there might actually be a plan here.
A source told Brad Shepard said of Oh, You Didn’t Know (h/t Ringside News), that Drew McIntyre “is currently scheduled” to go up against Undertaker at WrestleMania 36 next year. They’re building up towards that match early in order to “boost ratings,” Shepard added.
What’s interesting here is that Undertaker is speculated to have hand-picked McIntyre to be his opponent, suggesting the Deadman will take the clean pinfall loss.
Even more interesting is that this could be Undertakers very last match which would give the “Scottish Psychopath” the distinction of officially “retiring” the Undertaker.
How Likely Is McIntyre Over Taker?
While a rumor at this point and having seen and heard The Undertaker seemingly retire before, it’s hard to know how much weight to put into all of this. That said, it does make sense.
McIntyre has the goods to be WWE’s next big star and going over the Undertaker is a massive step in securing your place among the greats. If The Undertaker believes you are worthy, who are you to argue?
