According to a new report by WrestleVotes, WWE has potentially determined which match will headline night one of WrestleMania 36.
If you had to put money on picking the closing match of night one, a lot of people might choose either Brock Lesnar vs Drew McIntyre or Goldberg vs. Roman Reigns. Some might even say The Fiend vs John Cena or Edge vs Randy Orton because those matches have a “main event” type feel to them. Instead, according to a new report from @Wrestlevotes: “Talked with a source who said don’t be surprised to see a women’s match (Becky v Baszler) as the “main event” on the Saturday portion of WrestleMania.”
They added that the lineup is being worked on now, and by the time everything is said and done, there will be a total of 16 matches with each night showcasing eight bouts.
They did note that WWE is open to changing things after they tape the matches, citing “Quality could make a difference.”
In other words, if the Baszler vs. Lynch match turns out to be a stinker, it could get replaced. On the flip side, if another match is extremely good, it could be pushed up to the main event spot. Remember, WWE is taping all their matches in advance so they have the luxury of watching them, editing them and picking that order that best suits the show.
