Rey Mysterio Reveals Why He Missed WrestleMania
In an Spanish-speaking interview with FOX Sports MX, Rey Mysterio discussed not being part of Wrestlemania 36 over the weekend. He was one of the many names rumored to have been ill and some speculation was that he was pulled from the show, with COVID-19 concerns, even though he’d not been reported as having tested positive for it.
Mysterio mentioned that it was as simple as him feeling under the weather so he was sent home by WWE. Their approach was to be extra cautious during this time so there was no need for force Mysterio onto the card. He added that he wasn’t showing any Coronavirus symptoms.
Speculation was, the original plan for Mysterio included him wrestling Andrade for the United States Championship, some speculation was that his son Dominick might even get involved in the feud. As it turned out, Andrade was injured in a match on Raw and was not able to compete at WrestleMania anyways.
Instead, the WrestleMania 36 match was turned into Angel Garza and Austin Theory vs. Street Profits for the RAW Tag Team Championships. The Street Profits ended up retaining the titles.
