[Report] WWE Considering Company-Wide Break After WrestleMania 36

There is not good news coming out of Florida today if you’re WWE. The state of Florida issued a new “stay at home” ban that will go into affect longer than what WWE hoped would be April 9.

Originally, WWE shot footage of shows up to the post-WrestleMania Raw. Word is they shot a lot of extra footage that could be used in other programs as well but that they believed they could utilize the WWE Performance Center after the ban lifted.

News today that Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has issued a stay at home order for the entire state. The order goes into effect tomorrow and will last for at least 30 days. That puts WWE well past the April 9 date and shows like Raw, SmackDown and NXT in jeopardy.

After the news broke, popular Twitter rumors reporters WrestleVotes tweeted:

Rumors around the PC last week were that if the state of FL issued a Stay Home order, which happened today, WWE would reconsider taking a break post Mania. The RAW after is shot. I’ve been told if they are pausing for a while, some footage shot won’t be aired. TBD at this point.

This would be the first time in history that WWE has paused production on all of their shows and not aired a non-rerun version of their show, should this move forward.

There is a lot of speculation that this is the last thing WWE wants. After all, in a manner of speaking, it would put a halt to the whole idea of being able to call yourself the “longest running weekly episodic television show.”

To avoid that, WWE may air re-runs or have wrestlers introduce their favorite matches in a pre-recorded interview and talk about those matches as they are re-aired for fans. In much the same way Fox Sports signed on with WWE yesterday to air new content, WWE might do something similar.

Alternatively, Ryan Satin of Pro Wrestling Sheet noted, “It wouldn’t surprise me to see WWE move things to Connecticut as opposed to going on a break if they eventually can’t film at the PC for a period of time.”

AEW has already moved their productions away from Jacksonville to another location in the south east. They must have known this was coming.

We’ll be sure to provide more news as we have it.
