On Tuesday’s edition of SmackDown Live, Kevin Owens betrayed New Day, The WWE Universe and especially Kofi Kingston when he made the WWE Championship more important than his honorary position with the group. Owens ended the night be turning on Kingston destroying him in the middle of the ring.
It is assumed Owens will move on to face Kingston for the title at the Money in the Bank pay-per-view on May 19, 2019.
Last week, Owens was a fan favorite when he joined New Day in the absence of Big E who was out with an injury. Becoming Big O, Owens was being cheered by the Montreal SmackDown crowd as he went through a series of tests to earn his spot with the faction. He ate pancakes, performed New Day’s intro and dance around the ring, even though it was unlike Owens character as WWE fans knew it.
The partnership didn’t last and Owens showed his true colors one week later.
During Kofi’s match with Shinsuke Nakamura, Owens double-crossed New Day and Kofi, super-kicking him during the moments when the match broke down. He ended the show standing over Kingston and holding the WWE Title. He said, “I hope you had a good time, ’cause I’m coming for this! FightOwensFight’s intentions are clear.”
It is expected that Owens will address the WWE Universe next week and challenge Kofi for the title, assuming WWE doesn’t announce the match prior.

While watching Owens in New Day was fun, this is a much more comfortable place for fans of Fight Owens Fight. An in-ring general you can’t trust proved he’s one of the most ruthless talents on the WWE roster and it will be fun to see what he says as he addresses Kofi and New Day.
