Dave Meltzer is now reporting that Rey Mysterio will be fine to wrestle this Sunday at WrestleMania 35.
On the most recent episode of Monday Night Raw, Mysterio wrestled a match with Baron Corbin to close the show. It appeared he was injured and WWE updated fans on the seriousness of that injury. Mysterio suffered an issue with ankle, bad enough that his match with Andrade on SmackDown Live the next night was being canceled.
Rey himself then updated fans saying he was praying he’d be good to go on Sunday at the company’s biggest show of the year. If not, it was uncertain what would happen with the United States Championship match vs. Samoa Joe.
It looks like all that praying worked because it sounds like Mysterio will be making his match and trying to take the title off Joe.
Rey Mysterio Good To Go
This means that there won’t need to be a replacement found or the match canceled. Mysterio returned to WWE not long and ago and between himself not having much in the way of WrestleMania moments and Samoa Joe not really being offered a chance to get involved at the Showcase of the Immortals until this year, for both men, having this match was probably extremely important.
Because Mysterio will be wrestling in front of this son Dominick, we’re going to give the win to Mysterio who hasn’t had a title run or any big wins since coming back to WWE. This would be a good time and a good show to make up for that.
Mysterio lands the 6-1-9 for the pin and takes home the U.S. Championship. Samoa Joe will seek revenge on Tuesday’s SmackDown, perhaps even taking the title back and upsetting fans who want Mysterio to get a decent run.
