It didn’t take long following Rob Gronkowski’s retirement from the NFL that he might pop up in WWE. The former New England Patriots player did just that — or at least got pretty close to it — when he made an appearance at the USO Metro DC 37th Annual Awards Dinner in Washington, DC. While not a WWE-held event, the dinner had its fair share of WWE reps on hand.

If Gronkowski and WWE got together, it certainly wouldn’t be a first. Already known to make appearances to support Rawley ringside at NXT when Rawley was part of that brand, Gronk was part of a WrestleMania Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal in which he helped launch Jinder Mahal as one of the top heels in the company.
Could he show up in less than two weeks time and do the same for someone else? With no NFL commitments, it seems possible, to say the least.
NBC Boston reported on Gronkowski’s appearance at the dinner and also mentioned there was no word yet on if Gronk was there with the WWE crew, or if he was there on his own. For all we know, he was simply hanging out and already scheduled to be in attendance.
