Monday night, while Kurt Angle was taking part on Raw, another company was making an announcement that was, frankly, a bit shocking. Starrcast, the four-day weekend festival and conference that brings wrestling stars and fans together, announced Kurt Angle will be a part of their show which takes place May 23-26, 2019.
While Starrcast is not connected the All Elite Wrestling, the two companies are often linked closely together and this might indicate Angle isn’t going to have much going on with WWE post WrestleMania 35.
As the announcement started gaining steam on social media, Cody Rhodes tweeted, “It’s true It’s damn true Kurt Angle is coming to Starrcast II! “
The post was flooded with responses and .gif files of Vince McMahon figuratively fuming over finding out about Angle’s involvement. There’s no indication on whether or not WWE knew about this but many are assuming that WWE won’t be happy and are predicting it could change the outcome of whatever the company might have planned for his final match on the biggest stage in wrestling.
Angle will simply be showing up, talking with the crowd, taking pictures and probably signing autographs, which in and of itself, is not really all that big a deal. That said, it’s a great get for Starrcast, it will create huge buzz for what they’re putting together and it will certainly lead to some speculation Angle and AEW might somehow be connected in the future.
And for those who are wondering… now, this is not an April Fools joke. This partnership is actually happening. It’s true, it’s damn true.
