While Kevin Owens is one of the few superstars on the WWE roster without role for WrestleMania 35, most believed it was a matter of time before he was given something to do at WWE’s biggest show of the year.
Having just returned from injury, he was return made for a pleasant surprise and he was immediately thrust into a storyline with Daniel Bryan for the WWE Championship. So too, he has been stuck in the middle of the battle between Bryan and Kofi Kingston, taking Kofi’s spot in the first shot the 11-year vet had at the title but later cheering him on to his rightful match against Bryan for the title at WrestleMania 35. To go from fighting for the title to no match at all seemed like a massive oversight.
Things may be sorting themselves out as early as this Tuesday.
It is being reported that Kevin Owens will host a special version of the Kevin Owens show on the go-home to WrestleMania version of SmackDown and his guests will be none other than AJ Styles and Randy Orton. Speculation is that from this segment, Owens will somehow work his way into that matchup.
Some members of the WWE Universe will undoubtedly love this decision while others might not. The war of words between Styles and Orton have made their upcoming battle one of the underdog match-of-the-night candidates for this year’s extravaganza. Adding Owens has the potential to stick a hurdle in the way of all that. At the same time, Owens is one of the best talkers and in-ring workers in the company so there’s an argument that can be made he adds value to any match.
Tuesday night should answer a great deal of questions regarding where Owens will wind up this Sunday.
