One of the most anticipated matches in AEW history will have to wait. The day Jon Moxley debuted in NXT at Double or Nothing, he was set on a collision course with AEW star Kenny Omega. The two were set to meet in the ring at All Out in August.
Unfortunately, Jon Moxley is dealing with an elbow injury and an infection in that elbow and will not be competing at All Out. The AEW star announced he was no longer going to compete when he addressed fans on social media on Friday.
“I’m absolutely gutted to have to deliver this news,” Moxley started. He went on to say that he’d rather directly tell his fans that a serious case of MRSA has returned in his elbow and the issue has forced him to pull out of the fight 8/31 vs Omega at All Out.
Moxley then apologized to the fans and let them know he’d be undergoing surgery to correct the issue. “I’ll have surgery this week to remove the bursa sac in my elbow and be done with it for good. Should be a quick recovery so I will be 100% for AEW Wednesday nights on TNT,” he explained.
The matchup that would have seen Moxley wrestle Omega would have been his second official match in AEW. He’s recently been wrestling as part of the G1 Tournament and in smaller shows leading up to the pay-per-view. It was in Japan where the issues presented themselves.
AEW announced that Moxley will be replaced by Pac, who went by the name Neville during his WWE tenure:
