Former WWE Superstar Dean Ambrose ended AEW’s inaugural pay-per-view with a bang as he made his All Elite Wrestling debut as Jon Moxley to close the show.
Fans knew something big was coming at Double or Nothing in Las Vegas on Saturday night. There was some buzz that a debut would take place. Some of the bets were made on CM Punk, others on Moxley. It was the latter that arrived and put the rumors to rest.
Jon Moxley is now a part of AEW.
How Moxley Made His Debut
Following Chris Jericho’s win over Kenny Omega in the main event of Double or Nothing, Moxley entered through the crowd (eerily like when Scott Hall first showed up in WCW) and laid out both Jericho and the referee.
Moxley posed on the ropes then brawled with Omega. The two fought to the top of the entrance-stage when Moxley threw Omega from the top, crashing through the floor.
This is Incredibly Big for AEW
While already the No. 2 wrestling company in the world but never having put on a single show, AEW needed to ensure they didn’t disappoint. Adding Moxley to the roster will certainly send people home happy.
While the matches and the drama leading up to the moment were already great, Moxley was like the icing on the cake.
There’s not a bigger free agent on the market in professional wrestling. Moxley is the man both AEW and WWE wanted and AEW got him.
WWE tried to keep the former Shield member happy. He wasn’t. That said, many figured he’d be working his way back to WWE at some point. It appears that’s not happening with his arrival in AEW, and the question becomes, how long before others follow?
On Moxley’s debut, AEW announced:
