It was an eventful night for Brian Cage at Impact Rebellion as he would win the Impact World Championship from Johnny Impact, his first World Title with the company. This was also monumental as Cage had previously won the X Division title, his first Impact Title, in the same venue.
He wasn’t given much time to celebrate, however, as he was immediately attacked by a debuting Michael Elgin who just finished up his stint in NJWP on April 1.
This was far from the end of Cage’s night, too, as he would be rushed to the hospital after the match with rumors that he was having issues walking backstage following the contest.
Cage would release a post on Twitter confirming the injury:
“Not how I wanted or ever imagined this incredible night would end. I’ve chased this moment and have dreamt about this my entire life. And to have this be the outcome, I’d be lying if I said it didn’t break my heart.”Brian Cage via Twitter
While this may not have been how Cage wanted his night to end, he can still take solace in the fact that he reached a major career-milestone Sunday night when he captured the World Championship.
There’s yet to be an update on Cage’s long-term status but ideally whatever was ailing him following the match/post-match segment was minor. With Cage’s response on social media seeming bleak, it’s best to just be hopeful for him as we await more details.
