Jon Moxley is the most popular wrestler in the world. It seems strange to say that about someone who worked in such a stale gimmick as Dean Ambrose during his time in WWE, but it also couldn’t be more true,
Whether it’s in AEW, New Japan or on a random independent show against Caz XL (formerly known as Big Cass during his time in WWE).
In the match, which took place at North East Wrestling’s Six Flags Great Adventure, Moxley would Dirty Deeds both nZo and Caz XL and pick up the victory. Though he was on the wrong side of Moxley’s finisher, nZo would pull the curtain back a little bit and give some perspective onto why this moment was such a cool one for all parties involved.
“#JonMoxley was @bigcasswwe’s [roommate] when I was hired by WWE… 7 years later @realfreeagentz took [its] 1st challenger since Madison Square Garden… #caZXL might of took an L but every [winner’s] been a loser and he was a winner last night. 🖤 To be ringside to see my man at 300 lbs in the best shape of his life go 30 minutes with one of the best in the world was priceless… but #DirtyDeedsain’t done dirt cheap on the indies”nZo via Instagram
Not everybody gets to have a fairy tale ending in WWE. For many, in fact, their run in WWE is just a stepping stone as they look to create an identity for themselves within the wrestling industry.
For Moxley, Cz XL and nZo, their journey in WWE may be over (for now) but the experience will last a lifetime. Getting to put on a moment like this for all those interested in wrestling beyond WWE is great, but it’s also a fun moment for the three of them who get to show that there’s more to them than just their stops in WWE.
