Edge Says Match With AJ Styles “Has to Happen”
“AJ Styles and Edge has to happen,” Edge said in an interview with ESPN this week. And, if fans have any say in the matter, it will.
Among the many dream matches Edge could potentially take part in, now that he’s back with WWE, Styles might rank near or at the top of the list for a lot of fans. Edge noted how he’s aware that it’s insane the two have never met in the same ring. “In 25 years in the same industry, we’ve never touched. How is that possible?,” he added.
WWE first teased the idea of Styles and Edge at this year’s Royal Rumble. Unfortunately, nothing came of it as Styles suffered a short-term injury and had to eliminate himself from the match. Edge wants to ensure that anticipated meeting finally happens, at some point. “We felt a little bit of that at the Rumble, too,” he noted.
But, it’s not just Styles that Edge wants to work with. Noting Roman Reigns as WWE’s leader, Edge wants to help lighten Reigns’ load and lead as well. He started listing a number of guys he’s excited to work with:
“Seth Rollins has to happen. Kevin Owens, Cesaro, Nakumura, Sami Zayn, Aleister Black for sure, Matt Riddle, WALTER, Tommaso Ciampa, Velveteen Dream. Give them all to me, man. I just want to come in and work my tuchus off and have fun.”
Whether the highly-anticipated Styles vs. Edge match happens immediately following WrestleMania or not remains to be seen. For now, both Edge and Styles will have their hands full as Edge takes on Randy Orton in a Last Man Standing Match and Styles tries to stay alive in a BoneYard Match with The Undertaker.
