Former WWE Superstar Dean Ambrose (now known under his former ring name Jon Moxley) has signed on to star in an MMA-themed action movie, according to the Hollywood News outlet Deadline.
Ambrose/Moxley will work the film under his real-life name Jonathan Good and play a role in a film entitled “Cagefighter”. The movie has not begun filming yet and is currently in pre-production.
What Is Cagefighter?
The movie tells the story of a highly-touted MMA champion who is unexpectedly beaten in an MMA fight by a pro wrestling star. In an attempt to get over the embarrassing loss, he must fight his way back to the top and earn a rematch with the rookie cross-over star.
The movie is being Executive Produced by former WWE Superstar Christian, directed by Jesse Quinones (Calloused Hands) and will star real-life MMA fighter and actor Josh Herdman, Michael Jai White, Gina Gershon, Michelle Ryan, and Jason Maza.
Special appearances will be made by MMA legends Georges St. Pierre, Anderson Silva, and Alexander Gustafsson.
No release date has been set.
It hasn’t taken long for Ambrose to make a splash after leaving WWE. The video he posted minutes after his contract expired has gone viral and he’s already signed up for movie roles. There is no further news on what’s next in his professional wrestling career but staying in the spotlight can only be good for a future prospects.
