Becky Lynch Just Got Twitter Served
Becky Lynch is learning, if you’re going to be known as The Man in terms of Twitter wars, you better win every battle. If you don’t, someone is bound to make you look foolish.
So seems to be the way her Twitter war with former WWE Superstar Edge is leaning.
Normally the one who makes her social media opponents look silly, Lynch is finding out that she might have met her match. And her match is ruthless.
Things Are Getting Personal
Edge and Lynch have continued their back and forth jabs on Twitter since a few days ago. It started like any other Twitter battle where Lynch tried to call out Beth Phoenix. But, as Lynch brought their family into the mix, Edge jumped on board and started hitting Lynch where it hurts.
First reminding her that getting into a Twitter battle might not end well for her, he wasted no time striking back about relationships since Lynch put family on the table. He took a shot at Seth Rollins might send nude photos of himself to Lynch and how that didn’t work out well for him in the past.
If that wasn’t enough, he went straight for the jugular.
As Saturday rolled along, the two sent a number of tweets back and forth. They covered topics ranging from stealing jokes and catchphrases to stinking up the main event at WrestleMania. The latter must have stung because Lynch did what she never does, and chose not to respond.
The WrestleMania 35 Knockout Punch
Relationships are typically something wrestlers should avoid using as bait to insult each other. That didn’t happen here. But, when both got their shots in and Edge didn’t feel he’d leveled Lynch as much as he’d have liked, he went for something that might mean more to Lynch than almost anything else. That is, getting main event WrestleMania 35.
Edge said, “You actually made Jersey smell worse stinking up the Mania main event like you did.” Ouch.
Let’s not pretend that main eventing WrestleMania 35 was a big deal. For Lynch, it was likely the highlight of her career. To be told she stunk up the joint is one thing. But, when there’s some truth to it, the comment leaves a scar.
Lynch faced wide criticism that her match at WrestleMania 35 didn’t live up to the hype. Equipped with a speculated botched ending that saw her win both titles in a controversial fashion, her popularity has slowly declined since the biggest show of the year and that may have something to do with it.
Everyone has put on a good face since the match but it has to be assumed all parties wish that match could have ended with less of a question mark.
And, to really dig in the jab, Edge followed up before Lynch could respond. He wrote that she’d probably need a ghostwriter to come up with a comeback for her. Instead, she simply chose not to respond to that portion of his insult at all.
Are They Done? Probably Not.
When Lynch did make a comeback, she wrote:
“I’ve been trying to fight your wife this whole time. So you go back to Tweeting things your daughter didn’t say, and I’ll go and beat the one adult in your house that isn’t made of glass.”
Edge got in the death shot when he wrote, “Also don’t you have a job? I earned my retirement, go earn yours. Also no comment on your mania match?”
Lynch simply ended things on Saturday with, “Felt good to let loose again. See you all tomorrow.
From the outside looking in, it appears Edge won this round. It will be interesting to see if Lynch chooses to come back for Round 3.
