Backstage Reason Charlotte Really Won NXT Title At WrestleMania

According to PWInsider, the real reason Charlotte Flair won the NXT Women’s Championship was not because of ratings, a storyline, creating a historic moment or putting a legitimate star on NXT. No, the real reason Charlotte won the NXT Women’s Championship appears to be because of travel issues with Rhea Ripley.

Flair won the title off of Ripley in an excellent match and said that WWE is just scratching the surface of what Ripley will be able to do in the industry. Unfortunately, fans may not see her for a while as it appears her travel visa has expired and she was returned home to Australia.

Normally, this might not be a huge issue. But, because NXT (and all other brands) are going to tape as many episodes as they can in the next few days, not having the NXT Women’s Champion on television was a challenge WWE couldn’t figure out how to work around.

Ripley may appear on Wednesday’s episode of the show as it was already taped but this may mean she’ll be away from WWE programming for the foreseeable future.
