Backstage Details About The Pre-Taped Randy Orton vs Edge Match
According to Dave Meltzer of F4WOnline.com, WWE pre-taped the Randy Orton vs. Edge “Greatest Wrestling Match Ever” bout and apparently, worked very hard to deliver on that moniker.
Meltzer is reporting that Edge vs. Randy Orton includes a number of elements that will give it a chance to stand up to the billing. He notes:
“I heard a lot of selling. It’s really long — I think really long. That’s the idea to not to swerve you on the greatest match ever by making you mad when they have a terrible match. It was very much to do the best match that they possibly could.”

It Was an Unfair Bar To Set
One of the arguments against the match being billed as the greatest ever was that there was really no way it could be. While there are many ways to define a good wrestling match, and different styles that different fans prefer, Orton vs. Edge wasn’t likely to meet the best of any criteria.
Both are extremely talented wrestlers, but not on most lists when it comes to the best in-ring performers of any generation. That billing tends to go to names like Shawn Michaels, Bret Hart, Ric Flair, Ricky Steamboat, Kenny Omega or a handful of other stars.
The match is rumored to be very good. Whether it lives up to the name of the bout remains to be seen. Frankly, I hope I’m wrong and that is does turn out to be the greatest wrestling match in history.
Meanwhile, Orton is making subtle backhanded compliments about NXT’s Takeover pay-per-view and getting into scraps with Twitter followers suggesting Backlash won’t be as good. If he’s going to take shots at their style of wrestling, hopefully he’s backed it up when it comes to his own match.
