AEW Signs Ricky Starks and Abadon After Dynamite Matches
After wrestling in two individual matches on Wednesday’s Dynamite on TNT, both Abadon and Ricky Starks have been signed by the company to contracts.
Abadon previously wrestling on AEW Dark in a loss to Hikaru Shida but made her AEW Dynamite debut by defeating Anna Jay by pinfall in a squash match. AEW wasted no time in announcing that they had signed her to a deal to join the promotion.
After AEW wrote, “Welcome to the team, Abadon is #AllElite”. She wrote, “Welcome to your worst nightmare.”
Starks was the surprise challenger for Cody’s TNT Championship, making his debut for the brand after a video clip played introducing him to the fans. He fought, but lost in a tough battle.
It took a little bit longer, but minutes after the show ended, AEW also announced Starks was getting a deal. Tony Khan tweeted:
Thank you @starkmanjones for a great effort tonight. While he didn’t win the open challenge & the TNT Title, he opened a lot of eyes on #AEWDynamite. Thank you @CodyRhodes & Arn for nominating a great challenger; I was glad to sanction the match. Now: congrats Ricky you earned it.”
Both are interesting signings consider in 26 days a number of WWE talents will be free and clear to sign on with AEW. For Abadon, it was likely a necessary signing as two of their bigger-named female stars had gone down with injuries.
