It would appear that Pac and Hangman Adam Page are still set to face off under the AEW banner. While the original match that was set to take place at AEW’s Double or Nothing pay-per-view event was canceled due to creative differences, AEW still has plans to give fans what they were promised with the two facing off exclusively on AEW’s YouTube page for the world to see.
The match will be broadcasted on May 21, 2019 at 12 P.M. Eastern here.
This is good news for AEW as they’re still providing fans what they were told they’d see, even if it won’t hold the same weight with the inaugural AEW World Championship spot on the line. It’s unfortunate that things had to play out this way, especially with so many people already critiquing and holding pessimistic attitudes towards the new company that hasn’t had a chance to defend themselves with any matches as of yet.
Background on AEW Nixing Double or Nothing Match
For those who don’t know, Page and Pac were supposed to face off at Double or Nothing with the winner becoming the first-ever AEW World Champion. This was canceled, however, when reports surfaced that Pac was unwilling to take a loss at this time given his stake in Dragon Gate since winning the Open the Dream Gate Title.
While reports said that Pac was actually supposed to beat Page, plans had him eventually losing the Championship to Kenny Omega.
For Pac, this apparently wasn’t an option.
While we may never know what the actual details of this match being canceled are, these reports may be the next best thing. Whether they’re entirely accurate or not is anybody’s guess, but every report like this should be taken with a grain of salt regardless.
