WWE: Alexa Bliss Loves Playing the Villain

Anybody who’s seen Alexa Bliss on WWE Television knows that she’s extremely comfortable playing the villainous role week in and week out. She’s one of the best workers on the mic in the entire company and has the ability to tell a story and connect with the fans every single time she steps into the ring.

While she may be a villain on television, she’s actually one of the most kind-hearted and gentle individuals that the wrestling business has to offer. Still, when she’s put in front of a camera, she’s able to flip a switch and immediately turn into the character that everybody knows and loves (or loves to hate) as opposed to the person she is in her everyday life as Alexis Kaufman.

In a recent interview with Sports Illustrated, Bliss would speak about her WrestleMania 35 experience and focus heavily on her character work within the company.

“I love Marilyn Monroe,” said Bliss “And there is a scene in ‘My Week with Marilyn’ where she is this shy, timid person. Then she turns to the guy next to her and asks, ‘Do you want to see me be her?’ So she turns into Marilyn and her entire demeanor changes—and everyone recognizes her. That’s what I think of Alexa Bliss: she is not me, she is the complete opposite of me.”

WWE has pulled the curtain back in recent years, allowing fans to see the lives of the wrestlers more than ever before. When pulling the curtain back on Kaufman, it’s been very apparent that she’s as far from the Bliss character as possible. This makes her work in WWE even more impressive.

“I love portraying a bad guy,” Bliss would continue “I can go the extra mile with all the creativity. Plus, you can expect a lot of sass. WrestleMania 35 was my WrestleMania. You didn’t know what was going to happen. It was all about me, because I was the host.”

Bliss can hang with anybody in the industry in the ring but she truly shines on the mic. This is why her role as WrestleMania 35 host made so much sense for many reasons. Her regular role as a talk-show host on “A Moment of Bliss” also makes sense as it gives her a spotlight to talk each week while putting other Superstars over in the process.
