Sasha Banks took her ball and went home. Or, at least that’s the speculation. She hasn’t appeared on WWE programming since WrestleMania 35, and there is continued speculation that she’s prepared to sit out the remainder of her contract with WWE because she’s unhappy.
There are also reports WWE wants her back but won’t cave to any demands.
Banks reportedly wanted to quit WWE once she was informed that her and Bayley were dropping the Women’s tag team championships and has been so upset, she’s not even talking to WWE right now. A new report suggests there is some light at the end of the tunnel though.
On the Oh, You Didn’t Know podcast (h/t Ringside News), Brad Shepard reported that Banks is coming back soon – and that she’ll be appearing on SmackDown Live – ahead of the May 19 Money in the Bank pay-per-view.
Why the Change?
Apparently, she’s been speaking with Jason Jordan as a go-between. Jordan has been relaying info about her status to WWE and WWE is trying to find a way to bring her back and not ruffle too many feathers. She’s got heat now in the Raw locker room and the company is thinking it might be best for a fresh start. So too, Bayley is now on SmackDown and if there is any desire to get these two back together, it has to be on the blue brand.
So many mixed reports suggest it’s hard to really know what’s going on here between Banks and WWE. It seems unlikely she’d actually sit out the remainder of her WWE deal, especially considering they can add time to her contract because she walked.
At the same time, it also seems unlikely they would give her what she wants considering they’ve hung out to dry much bigger stars in the past when they whined and bailed on previous commitments.
