While we will not post WrestleMania, Raw or SmackDown results should we get them, there are reports that more changes beyond just Roman Reigns are coming for WWE’s biggest show of the year. In fact, reports are multiple wrestlers have either claimed they are sick or have temperatures past the cutoff point of 100.4 degrees and WWE has pulled them. There were even cases where some wrestlers just didn’t feel comfortable flying in to WWE PC to take part in the tapings and WWE made the changes, having always said it was up to each performer.
Who those performers are and what matches have been affected are not clear. But, speculation is that WWE filmed other matches with new opponents in many of the cases where originally slotted wrestlers could no longer participate.
Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer says to expect more changes. He notes “both AEW and WWE had told people that if they don’t want to come, they don’t have to come and that the decisions made now won’t be held against them when it comes to future booking.” It sounds like a number of wrestlers took them up on it.
Speaking with Variety, Stephanie McMahon talked about WWE trying to remain cautious and discussed some of the extra measures they are taking. “At a typical event, talent are milling about, they’re at catering or wherever when they’re not actually in part of the show. That’s not happening now,” Stephanie explained. She went on to explain, “There’s extensive testing and screening when you first come in the facility regardless of whether you’re a talent, a crew member, or anyone else.”
Clearly, that screening caught some people with temperatures beyond the levels deemed acceptable to compete or work. McMahon also said anyone who has been out of the country, or in touch/contact with anybody who has been out of the country, is not allowed in the facility either.
“We’re taking every precaution we can. It’s also why you don’t see talent or anyone else in the audience. We really are adhering to all the guidelines that we can to maintain the health and safety of our crew and our performers,” she added.
These changes are exactly why WWE rushed so quickly to try and film everything. They knew that this could happen and planned for it. Still, it sounds like the card will be greatly affected.
As more news becomes available, we’ll try to update things. The latest we’ve heard is that Reigns is out, others are too and there were conflicting reports today about whether or not the PC was even still open.
