Up here in Canada, things always tend to come a little bit later than the big television deals that land in the U.S. The same can be said for AEW’s new TNT show. While the tv deal had been announced a while back and everyone in the southern half of North America was excited, Canadians were like ‘Damn, we don’t get TNT.’
As per a report by The Wrestling Observer Newsletter, All Elite Wrestling’s negotiations over a Canadian TV deal could finalized and the wrestling promotion available to viewers north of the border.
So far, AEW will be available on TNT in the U.S., and will be available to fans in international markets through FITE TV for a $4.99 monthly fee. There’s no word on where and when AEW will be available to Canadians but speculation is that TSN will carry the show.
Word is, AEW president Tony Khan is said to be working on the deal himself and it helps that the promotion has been Canadian stars like Kenny Omega and Chris Jericho. TSN recently did a special on Omega that was well received.
Will AEW Air on Delay?
With the way social media works these days, hopefully, if a deal is struck with AEW to broadcast AEW: Dynamite in Canada, whatever network picks it up won’t air it days after it goes live to the United States. Set to debut on TNT on Wednesday, October 2, it would be kind of a bummer if fans in Canada had to watch in Saturday afternoons or something.
